First things first: Get the idea of your Old Mate dressed in tight lycra out of your head.
Cycling isn't about the gear, speed or equipment - it's a low-impact way to keep your Old Mate fit and healthy.
Many cities have public bike infrastructure which is both cheap and easily accessible.
This activity may not be suitable for all Old Mates as there is a decent level of fitness, stability, and balance required for cycling. A good stepping stone would be a fixed, indoor bike. This allows the movement and exercise of cycling, but without the balance or coordination required of a standard bike. Otherwise, you might want to check out our other activities: Walking & Hiking, Dancing, and Swimming - as they're still physically stimulating, but are technically easier.
